Why domains require renewal
When you order domain registration services, a domain is reserved for a certain period. In order to keep your domain activated, its registration should be periodically renewed. When your domain name registration period expires, such domain name is blocked and deactivated. Therefore, users won't be able to access your website at the specified address and you won't be able to receive e-mails to this domain. Although you will be able to send e-mails from the address of already non-functional domain, your addressees won't be able to reply you.
Usually, after domain name registration period is expired, it still remains reserved. Upon expiration of this period, a domain name becomes free and may be registered by other persons. Even if you think that your domain name sounds attractive only for you, it is very likely that someone will be faster than you.
According to some domain zone policies, if you do not renew your domain in time, you are charged extra fee for its renewal. Also in several domain zones, domains are deleted immediately after their registration expiration, after which it is impossible to re-activate such domains even if additional payments are made.
Therefore, we strongly recommend that you keep track of your domain registration period and to renew it in time.
How to avoid losing your domain
To renew your domain name, simply pay for its next registration term. Renewals are possible for a term from 1 to 10 years depending on separate domain zone policies.
You will receive notifications of domain name renewal two months prior to expiration of your domain name registration to your e-mail address, which you specified in your account.
Also, you will receive free SMS one month prior to expiration of your domain registration to your phone number, which you specified in your account. You may activate SMS notification option in Profile menu of your account. Currently, SMS may be sent to more than 700 mobile operators from 166 countries of the world.
Another way to ensure that you will not forget to renew your domain name is to top up your balance by any amount sufficient to renew your domain. In such case, all marked domains will be automatically renewed for a further registration term, so you won't have to constantly pay for each domain to keep them activated.
